For example, if you define a synonym for “Jumanji” as movies, searching for “Jumanji” will now return all records that contain the word movies in addition to records that contain the word “Jumanji”. Typesense recognizes two types of synonyms:
- One-way synonyms: When the words linux, mac and windows are defined as one-way synonyms for operating systems, searches for operating systems will return documents containing either linux, mac , windows or all of them.
- Multi-way synonyms: When defining the words comics, journal, and novel as multi-way synonyms will result in searches for any one of those words for exdample: comnics returning documents containing at least one of the words in the synonym set (for example: records with comics or journal or novel are returned).
